1) Drive in sub-optimal conditions! This may seem a little counter-intuitive as a learner driver but it’s important to drive in sub-optimal conditions. Many driving instructors will suggest you drive in conditions you don’t find comfortable such as the rain to further develop your skills behind the wheel. 2) Always maintain focus. It’s so easy to become distracted while behind the wheel. 5) Maintain correct oil levels and tyre air pressure. To make this habit you should develop a routine that will cause you to constantly do this over and over. By taking the time to learn some mechanical checks you can ensure that your car is in working order and it will save you money on repair costs.

6) Regularly maintain a driving schedule. Use it or lose it is the age old wisdom and saying. This applies the same for driving as it does many different things. While this tip isn’t relevant to those who commute to work on a daily basis, you should still continue reading. It’s still crucial you continue to drive your car. This keeps your skills fresh in your mind and your reaction time quick in the case of an emergency.

7) Keep up to date with news and changes about driving on the road. From time to time the laws that govern what we can and cannot do on the road are at risk of changing. There was a time where driving through a school region was not cause for slowing down but new rules have changed that. Don’t make the mistake of breaking the law, it can incur loss of license. By keeping up to date on a current affairs and news governing driving, you will save yourself a lot of trouble!

Ensure your registration is renewed and up to date when it must be. If you plan to relocate or move home soon, remember to update your details with the driving administration board of your state or country. It’s something many of us forget during moving. Easily forgotten things just like this are usually the first mistakes that learner drivers make.

9) Maintain your insurance for your vehicle. If you forget to renew your comprehensive vehicle insurance, this may be one costly mistake to remember!! If you do not have vehicle insurance and are responsible for a car accident, you are in for a bumpy ride cost wise. It’s tempting to drive while uninsured even if it’s just a day or two past but an accident can occur at any time and lack of insurance is costly and a crime.

10) It’s important to maintain a serious approach to drive but you can stil have FUN! Learning to drive a car can and will be one of the most exciting periods of your life but remember to keep safe and have fun. Driving offers you a new sense of freedom and opportunity in the years that lay ahead!
