GIA Will Be Moving to New Gem Tower
The Gemological Institute of America (GIA) has announced plans to relocate its New York laboratory to the International Gem Tower (IGT), a commercial condominium building designed specifically for the international diamond, gem and jewelry trade. A project of Extell Development Co., the tower is currently under construction and is set for completion in 2012. It is located in New York’s Diamond District, at 50 W. 47th St., between Fifth and Sixth Avenues.
The GIA has promised to buy one floor in the building, approximately 30,000 square feet of space to house its staff and equipment efficiently and be able to continue its mission to serve the wholesale diamonds and jewelry industry.
